Ingredients

2 pounds pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup hoisin sauce

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon five-spice powder

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Ribs: If the pork ribs have a membrane on the back, remove it for better flavor absorption. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

Make the Marinade: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

Marinate the Ribs: Place the ribs in a large resealable bag or a deep dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Bake the Ribs: Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on the prepared baking sheet, meat side up. Reserve the marinade for basting. Cover the ribs with another layer of aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until tender.

Glaze the Ribs: After the ribs are tender, remove the foil and brush them generously with the reserved marinade. Return the ribs to the oven and increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C). Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting with more marinade every 5 minutes, until the ribs are caramelized and sticky.

Serve: Once done, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes. Slice the ribs into individual pieces and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
