Ingredients

1 pound thinly sliced roast beef (cooked)

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 hoagie or sub rolls

8 slices provolone cheese (or your cheese of choice)

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: sautéed green peppers or mushrooms for added flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, sauté the onions until they are caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

Add the Beef: Stir in the thinly sliced roast beef, Italian seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Pour in the beef broth and mix well, allowing the beef to soak in the flavors. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the beef is heated through.

Toast the Rolls: While the beef mixture cooks, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the hoagie rolls in half without cutting all the way through. Place them on a baking sheet, open-faced.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Once the beef is ready, evenly distribute the hot beef mixture between the four hoagie rolls. Place two slices of provolone cheese on each sandwich.

Melt the Cheese: Bake the sandwiches in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool for a minute before serving. For extra flavor, serve with au jus made from the leftover beef broth.
