Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

3/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups diced apples (peeled, cored, and small diced)

1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with non-stick spray.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the applesauce, milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

Add Apples: Carefully fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Prepare for Baking: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar and cinnamon topping over the batter. Add the remaining batter and finish with the rest of the topping.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until you reach a drizzle consistency.

Glaze the Bread: Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.

Slice & Serve: Slice the bread and serve it warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
