Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 small onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (any color)

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 large garlic bread hoagie rolls

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Meat Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.

Sauté Vegetables: Add the diced onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.

Make the Sloppy Joe Sauce: Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 5-7 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Prepare the Garlic Bread Rolls: While the meat is simmering, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the garlic bread hoagie rolls and place them open-faced on a baking sheet. If desired, you can spread some butter and minced garlic on the inside of the rolls for extra flavor.

Toast the Garlic Bread: Place the rolls in the oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, until they are crispy and lightly golden.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Once the garlic bread rolls are toasted, carefully spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto each roll. Top with the shredded cheddar cheese.

Melt the Cheese: Return the assembled Sloppy Joes to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the Sloppy Joes from the oven and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for a burst of color. Serve warm and enjoy your flavorful Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes!
