Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

2-3 tbsp milk (for icing)

1 tsp vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, salt, and the yeast mixture, followed by melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir until well blended. Gradually add in the remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon together.

Roll out the Dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangle (about 16x24 inches), approximately 1/4 inch thick. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.

Roll and Cut: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.

Second Rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Rolls: Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Icing: While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Glaze the Rolls: Once the rolls are done, drizzle the icing over the warm rolls and serve immediately for the best gooey experience!
